On November 5th, we will be celebrating the end of a brutal election season. We will have pizza, cake, and wine! Instead of a formal meeting, we will be watching the documentary “Missrepresentation,” about media representations of women and it’s very interesting.
Early voting has begun! Please make sure your friends and family vote. Voter turnout will make the difference in this election! Happy voting!!!
Our Endorsement meeting will be this Wednesday, October 1st, at 6:00 p.m. at 3801 Centerpoint Dr. with dinner available at 5:30 p.m. for a donation to the operating account to cover the cost. This is a great opportunity to meet some of the candidates who will be there to tell us all about themselves. See you there!
The next Alaska Women for Political Action meeting will be on September 3rd at the usual time, with dinner at 5:30 and the program at 6:00, but it will be at a different location. This time we will be meeting at 750 W. 2nd Ave. We will see you there!
Our garden party PAC fundraiser is this Thursday, June 19th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at 3000 W. 29th Ave. The back gate will be open so you can go right around to the garden in the back. It is a potluck, so we kindly ask that you bring a dish if you can. We will also have our extra T-shirts available for anyone who would like to buy one.
Our T-shirts should be done before our meeting June 4th, so they will be available then. If you have already purchased one, you can pick it up at the meeting. If you have not already ordered one, you can purchase one at the meeting and take it home with you. Although they are blue, it would be great to see us wearing them at the Run for Women on Saturday, June 7th.
NAACP Anchorage and Alaska Federation of Natives are hosting a community picnic and voter registration drive this Sunday, May 18th 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Lion’s Park in Mountain View. This is a great volunteer opportunity for those of you who are interested in registering voters. Feel free to e-mail us for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you to Bettye Davis, Tam Agosti-Gisler, and Kameron Perez-Verdia for coming to our monthly meeting last week and telling us so much about education! It was very interesting!
